With her St Stephen's 2010 Leavers nickname "Miss Sweden" proudly emblazoned across the back of her 2010 Leavers sweater our 2009/10 RYE student Hanna Berg recalled her impressions, excitement and adventures of her year in Australia at our meeting last week.

Pictures of her many adventures and excursions told the story of a year full of activity and excitement. New Years Eve in Sydney, a family reunion on the Gold Coast, white sandy beaches in Esperance, rock pools and waterfalls in Karijini National Park all featured alongside schoold uniforms (always a highlight for our European students!) and plenty of socialising with new friends from Perth and around the world.

Hanna tells us she returns to Sweden with new-found confidence and independence - especially from her twin brother (who has been on exchange in Queensland)! She has two more years of school on her return (after 2 months summer holiday...) before she thinks about university.

Hanna's confidence, fluency - even in Swedish - and cheerful recollections of host families, school balls, trips to Sydney and all parts of WA reinforced for us all yet again what a fantastic program RYE is. In Hanna's own words: "This has been the best year of my life!" - well, we'd like to add "so far" to that!
