Busy Bee at Rosalie Primary school

Club members, Jane and Judy, joined members of the Rosalie Primary School community to do some much needed tasks at the school on 16 September 2017.

It was a beautiful morning and there was a good number of volunteers from the school community to tackle tasks such as painting, executing running repairs, digging out and moving plants to make way for painting of buildings during the school holidays and gardening and general tidying up of garden beds.

Jane and Judy were kept busy for the couple of hours they were at the school sorting out the garden bed near the front gate. The club helped out weeding and digging out plants in the same area a couple of years ago so it was good to get into sorting it out again. Unfortunately the native plants that were planted at that time are being strangled by the South African daisies that are very prolific in the area.

Piles of weeds and a tidier garden

Rest time...what a team!

The daisies that had a direct impact on the native plants were removed and others trimmed back.

Jane and Judy plan to regularly maintain this garden bed on behalf of the club, so the native plants have the opportunity to grow to their best.
