Cans for Christmas 2018 |
Cans for Christmas 2018 The Cans for Christmas collection for 2018 was a great success thanks to all members and other friends who took part. We were fortunate that the weather was fine for putting out the red bags and for the collection day on Sunday the ninth of December. We had decided on a new area for our collection after last year’s poor yield in Subiaco –moving into Wembley north of Cambridge Street. The areas allocated by Harry were just the right size for each of the five teams so distribution and collection took a little over an hour and was a pleasant walk in the sun for the foot soldiers. Thanks to Byron for organising his carport and garage for the bin storage. Foodbank collected them at 11am on Monday and they were able to tell me by Monday afternoon that RCWE had collected the grand total of 691 kilograms. This is almost twice what we collected last year and Foodbank are very grateful. |
Hopefully we will be able to exceed this year’s total next year. It would only take one more team and a little more time so let’s set a target of 800 kg for 2019.
