This week our member Jane spoke about her recent nine week holiday with husband Brendan to Europe, the USA and Canada. They headed off from Perth in May bound for Paris where they took in the many sights and enjoyed the best of Parisian food. It was then off to Le Havre from where they boarded a boat bound for Portsmouth (UK) and then drove to Southampton via Penzance and Nailsworth where they visited some family friends. Along the way they also visited Stratford-Upon-Avon and Brendan decided that he needed to purchase a pair of formal black shoes. Brendan's excursion to the shop resulted in the purchase of not just one pair but six pairs - much to Jane's bewilderment! 

In Southampton they joined the Queen Mary for a cruise to New York. This had been an item on Jane's bucket list for a long time and she was certainly not disappointed. The highlights included the sumptuous food, the luxury accomomodation, the excellent service and Brendan's good use of his formal attire! Upon arrival in New York it was off to see the many sights including the Empire State Building, Central Park Gardens, the wonderful tulips and Jane's favourite - the Leonard Cohen display.

From New York it was the train to Montreal for a one week stay and catch up with friends, then train to Toronto followed by a plane to Vancouver. This was followed by a cruise along the Canadian coast which unfortunately Brendan was unable to enjoy in full as he contracted influenza A and was bed ridden for four days. It was then back to Vancouver for a hospital check up for Brendan. After navigating around the fantastic scenery outside Vancouver and Whistler in a hire car, it was time to head home via Sydney and Canberra.

An action packed nine weeks and the trip of a lifetime!
