“I Am Woman” is this year’s Polio Movie Event, raising funds for Rotary’s #1 cause and we will be screening at the Greater Union Cinemas Morley, at 6:30pm on Sunday 22nd November. Shot in Sydney with a largely Australian cast and crew, the story traces the life of the singer / songwriter from the time she arrives in New York and it includes all her biggest hits. This year’s Polio Movie Event is being run as a tribute to Sir Clem Renouf, the RI President for 1978/79 from Ingham, Queensland. Sir Clem, who passed away on 11th June, was a giant in Rotary’s history and was one of the leading figures in our fight to end polio. So, let’s have some fun and raise lots of funds for polio! Our international projects. The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour supports two International Projects. In Kenya we manage the Maasai Education Fund. The club helps fund one student undergoing tertiary medical training and has found sponsors to assist four girls through high school. All five recipients are from a small rural town in Kenya called Kimuka. Ms Melanie Peeyian Rianto, the student RCWE sponsored through 5 years of high school in Kenya is now being funded to attend the Kenya Medical Training College in Nairobi. The second international project funded by the club is a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project in Cambodia. Because of the drought in Cambodia during 2020, the club financed the installation of two wells to provide safe and plentiful drinking water for two small villages in the NW of Cambodia. Villagers in Cambodia access clean drinking water supplied by the RCWE. | |
